CRS is a not for profit studio dedicated to providing recording & production servics and technical support to the arts and music community. We incubate and foster creativity by providing services to those who otherwise would not have access to professional recording and production.
CRS is creating a hub of arts and music and sustainability within the community. We draw ad develop talent from within the region, offering a sliding scale, and provide access to our established and ever-expanding network of musicians, engineers, graphic artists, photographers & filmmakers, editors, club owners, promoters, record labels, and management services. We are fully functional and ready to tend to all aspects of the project. Artists are then able to focus on creating the best possible record.
COMMUNITY RECORDING SERVICES has recently moved into our new primary facility in East Hampton, CT. We are renovating and upgrading the new space and will be ready to roll tape in by Summer 2021! Looking forward to many great projects in this new and improved space.
Our Preservation Series gives CRS the opportunity to ensure that music can be protected for the ages and passed along to future generations. It is our joy to offer this community service.
We pack up the entire operation and take this show on the road to find the perfect location, vibe, and signature sound. We just love carrying a bunch of heavy gear, especially pianos, whenever possible. And trailers, we love trailers.
Addiction can be a struggle for many creative geniuses, and the Recovery Series extends our services to those in need of support along their journey. Our network also includes some of the kindest recovery counselors in the area.
The expanding CRS family is overflowing with talented musicians, many interested in backing you up and filling out your band to help you achieve the best possible sound.
This program allows us to step in to help talented musicians on the verge of quitting the biz due to financial constraints or other stressors.
CRS is happy to provide film support to further your vision. We have just upgraded our equipment and we are tapped into the network of enthusiastic photographers, filmmakers, editors, and animators.
Michael is the founder and Executive Director of CRS. Having studied at Columbia College and practiced his craft for going on 30 years, he serves as producer and engineer for all of our projects. Michael is a self-taught and talented musician, playing just about any instrument that could come to mind. He is also an amazing songwriter, and together with his band Sepia Tone, released Beg, Borrow, Steal, our first major production. Michael's superpower is putting his artists completely at ease, so that they can tap deeply into their own talent.
Sid is on the Board at CRS and has been with us since this idea was a tiny seed. He is a supremely talented multi-instrumentalist and celebrated songwriter. He has played with Hotel Alexis and Torrez, and is the founder of Broken Sparrow Records, an independent record label. Sid's hauntingly beautiful songs are available on all your favorite subscription services. Scroll down for some selections and videos from Sid's brand new record, now available on vinyl. Sidney is also the President and founder of Gigantic Media, a full-service digital agency and web/app development company.
CRS is thrilled to welcome Jim to our Board of Directors. A true Renaissance man, Jim brings to the table his broad musical talent, decades of experience as a community servant, activist, & radio host, and his encyclopedic cultural knowledge and wisdom. Catch James playing with his band The Grahamcrackers, or with the recently reunited Hollowbodies! Also serving as Communications Director at Horizons of Windham, Jim is all about doing the good work. We're blessed to have him on the team, and can't wait to see where it leads.
Artie has been part of the CRS family since the beginning. He is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, and has has the power to transfix and transport with his beautiful voice. We have loved playing in the Hollowbodies together, and he has also played with The Arteaze and The Grahamcrackers. Artie is our resident Music Instructor and Engineering Assistant, and has been instrumental in many CRS productions. He received his Music Production degree from Full Sail University and has worked as a Music Therapist and Teacher for individuals with disabilities. After years of his help, we are delighted to officially have him on staff here at CRS.
CRS is extremely fortunate to have Chris on our team. He is a brilliant engineer, and our go to guy for all things Mastering. He produces original customized music for use in Film, Video, TV, Radio, Flash Games, and Interactive Web Sites. Chris possesses a strong musical sensibility, and therefore equally comfortable on either side of the glass, whether using virtual instruments to create a large expansive orchestral production, or rocking out live. He is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist with a wide range of genre experience. This flexibility makes him a powerful asset to any music production.
We are blessed and honored to work with so many exemplary musicians. CRS prides itself on a deep sense of community, and so many of our projects are interwoven, and it is extremely gratifying to witness these relationships form and sustain. We will be thrilled to find the right folks to round out your crew. We love our CRS family.
